Cool How many miles before you use synthetic oil?

I bought a 2002zx6r, and was wondering when is the best time to switch to synthetic oil?My bike only has 500mls on it now.
The dealer said, 10,000mls,which sounds crazy to me.I have heard 1,500mls, does any one know? What type of oil do you use?

I usually change over to synthetic after 3 oil changes. If the dealer suggested 10000 miles, I would do that. I use either Mobil1 or Valvoline.

I just changed the oil in me 929, 2700 miles..went to mobil 1 mx4t 10w40 full synth...you want to wait till the motor is broken in, ring's seated, etc before you switch to synth...there are lots of opinions on when this happens....2700 miles was enough for me...big thing is to stay away from automotive oils...they tend to cause clutch slippage...I like the mobil 1, it wins almost every comparo on oil I've seen...although Amzoil is also very good...

I also have been running mobil 1 in me 01 ex2fity...for about a year now...runs like a top...your motor will also run noticably smoother and it will shift gears smoother...

B.S. on that automotive crap. I've been going to the locall automotive store ever sense I started running synthitic oil. My now 6 year old Kawi zx9r has 37,000 miles on it. Part of them were on track days, and I still have the same original clutch.
Amsoil is a great oil put not that easly found in your local stores.

I would not wait 10,000 mi to put synthetic in. About 1,500 would be good.

Once you try track, you never go back.

A buddy of mine races Quad's, and he swears by Klotz Oil. He said he's noticed less engine problems since switching to them. So on his recommendation, that's what I just put in my SuperHawk.

Smile Mobil or Castrol Synthetic

15-50 Mobil #1 or 20-50 Castrol are both tested higher then ANY synthetic motorcycle oil EVER made.

You are safe to go to synthetics at 1000 miles. These old wives tales seem NEVER to die! Alleged motorcycle oil is the biggest scam EVER invented!

Whatever you use, frequency is the key. You CANNOT change the oil in a motorcycle too often!
