Exclamation 954RR vs. 02 R1.....before they're tested, which do like?

Ok, I've been a faithful Honda-head and have been desperately awaiting the release of the 954, which I think is bad-ass, but the 02 silver R1 has managed to tickle my titty I'm sure that when the lucky bastards from the bike mags test these beasts many opinions will change, but until then which one do you like? Even though it's unchanged for 02, I also included the gixxer, cuz, well, ahh, you know why!

I'm developing the "work" pill. You simply pop 1 on the way to work and before you know it, you're on your way home from work without missing a beat! It's kinda like pounding brews, but you won't wake up with a fat chick or a fat lip, & you get paid too!

As far as looks it's got to be the silver/black R1.
But WTF were they thinking with the red/black/white monstrosity. If it doesn't look MUCH better in person I bet there will be some geat deals at the end of the season on that one.
As far as riding them I can't believe there's that much TRUE difference. Some different characterisics maybe but I'd take any one of them in a heart beat.

How 'bout the black with gold belly pan ZX12. Pretty good there too.

Repeal helmet laws, they only protect people we most likely don't need in the gene pool any way!

I like yourself Peg-grinder, am a faithful Honda-head, so my opinion here is a "little" biased, with the 954 being my choice. The gixxer 1000...... is a gixxer 1000, with nothing more needing to be said, even though it does look almost identical to it's 600 and 750cc siblings. The R1 is going to be one sweet looking rocket, and I love that shift light!

RR954

I'm seriously considering a 954, but, the brake fluid reservoir sticking up behind the windscreen gives me the creeps.
It looks like an after thought that could be easily knocked off .
Anyone put a eyeball on one up close?

You ain't kidding! That model MUST be a grand less! Even though both the 954 and the R1 have painted under tails, the R1's license plate assembly is removable with just a couple screws.......NICE, easy custom work! Here's a pic of the 02 R1:

I have always like the red/white R1 much better than the blue, but I have to agree that the red/wht/blk '02 bike is hideously ugly. The silver/blk scheme looks killer.

If I were in the '02 market for the ass-kickin'est sportbike out there, putting aside the fact that you're never going to utilize any of the three's full potential, I'd go with the GSXR1000; it will still be "king" next year (IMO). If Honda has it in their heads right now to top the Gixxer, I'd bet the 954 is just a stepping stone to a "CBR1000RR" to come in less than 3 years. Just a guess, though.

Why, oh why, didn't Honda lengthen the windshield? I like the 954 from the side, but from the front it's a face only a mother could love. The silver and black R1 is a mean lookin' machine. I like it a lot. Oh, and I voted R1.

I voted R1. That silver R1 just looks too damn good. I personally like the red/black/white R1 but not nearly as much as the silver.
