You should go check out both bikes, sit on them and see which one fits your body better. As far as performance they are going to be so close that most people wouldn't even be able to tell a difference.

Better yet, ride each one if possible, just keep the throttle in check

Old, Slow, but ...Smooth

Get the Suzuki, swap some decals around, and you've got a 1000.

It doesn't have to be fun to be "fun".

Well, just in case you haven't bought you GXR yet, let me put my $.02.

It appears you asked for advice and then didnt follow it.

Five people responded. One of them basically said they are about the same. Two said ride them both (one of whom has a Yamaha emblem for an avatar). Two said get the GXR.

Someone in this website said that the only bikes to sell out are the R series Yamahas. If true, that should tell you something.

I have ridden neither. However, I have read numerous articles and here is what I have learned. The gxr has more hp and more mid-range. However, since the gxr is based on the 750 it has a longer frame which makes it more stable at high speeds, but not as agile in the tight stuff. Therefore, depending on what your preferences are,(sweepers or hairpins)you might want to re-think you decision a little, or at least read some magazine articles.

It has been suggested that you ride both. Some dealers will let you and some won't.

If you can, spend some time at your local sportbike hangout and ask a lot of questions. Find out HOW these owners ride. Is it how you like to ride? Find what they rode before. Maybe you'll find someone who owned both. Sometimes, if the bikes are too close to call, your deteriminig factor may be your local dealer. Ask what dealers they bought their bikes from and are they getting good treatment from them.

Good luck and remember, both of these bikes are excellent, but in 2 years, they will be dinasours.

Once you try track, you never go back.

Pick your favorite color. Seems like they are both awesome bikes.

I'm about to get an R6 because i think it looks better....sounds like a stupid reason but from what i've heard about both of them, they are practically equal in every way.....

I like the Yamaha red, and the dual headlights, and the body, and....... I just hope i can make my R6 stand out from everyone else's R6.
