A few beers later

Some seriously nasty fireworks there, just look at the size of the launch tubes
There was one for sale that came with a metal launch tube and a large brown ball of explosives. I was told that you light the short fuse on the large brown gaffer taped ball and drop into the tube. I decided not to bother since the guy selling it had no idea how long the fuse took to burn.

Missing/additional finger

GD you should know that it is in fact a very common mutation in China where people are born with an extra finger. Most keep them because they are supposed to be good luck charms....

Had some experience of those from living in India.... fuses appear identical but no two are alike ! Some burn for 10 seconds, some for 10 minutes and then there are those that go off the moment they see a lighter.

I almost blew my hand off and haven't gone near the things since unless they come with a British Standards Kite Mark!!

The official count is 663 casualties and one death in Beijing alone according to the municipal health authorities.

Quote "A 25-year-old man died from head injuries on lunar New Year's Eve and another man, 21, suffered injuries resulting in the loss of an eye, according to the Beijing fireworks administration office."

They have a whole office dedicated to fireworks
what a great job
