Driver 100 kmh above the limit
July 5, 2006
A man was caught driving at 100 kmh above the speed limit this morning, one of the highest speeds detected on Victorian roads this year.
The 30-year-old Mooroolbark man was clocked at 160 kmh in a 60 kmh zone on Scoresby Road in Bayswater, in Melbourne's east.
When police stopped him about 1.10am, they found he also had a blood alcohol reading of 0.101 per cent and was driving an unregistered vehicle.
A police spokeswoman said the speed was one of the highest detected this year.
"Being in a 60 kmh zone, it's probably an area that's residential and to be speeding at that level around a residential area it's likely to be pretty dangerous," she said.
Is it weird in here, or is it just me?
