Hotel rooms for the MotoGP weekend

Where to stay??

YP and I are trying to get room at the Concorde KLIA. However, there is a Muslim convention there for all of October in addition to the MotoGP...
Currently trying to talk to the management to book a couple of rooms for us.

The Empress is also an option if you don't mind being awakened by some hollering old gaffer at 5 o'clock in the morning.

Local numbers are:

Concorde:
+60 03 8783 3118
Ramu, manager: direct +60 1 2673 5522
e-mail: [email protected]

Empress:
+60 03 8706 7777

Any other suggestions are warmly welcomed.

Yes sir,

Seems like Concorde and Empress are falling out of the equation.

Joe at Sporting Motorcycles is now trying to make a block booking for us at the "Pan Pac - Glen Marie". It's a 5 star thing, but he paid only something like MRi160,- last year. It's about 20-30mins by highway to Sepang. It is not in the centre of KL, so shouldn't have to worry about getting lost...

Anyway, have informed Joe of your interest.
Thought you guys wanted to have one room together though. Like you normally do....

Anyone else want a room??

KL rooms

I was in KL last weekend, there are some pretty good deals about but the place was pretty full. A few examples below:
Rennaisance - 150RM per night including taxes and breakfast (not sure when that offer ends but possibly end September)Grand Maya (Was Park Plaza) 200RM per room for 2 nights
Park Royal (where we ended up staying) 160RM per night++ no breakfast included but available at 16RM extra. There is renovation work going on so quite a mess downstairs and no pool but good rooms.

All good and well for those who are not racing, but personally I'm not about to get lost in the KL labyrinth just to have a "couple of beers" at a bar which is not the hotel bar.

I'm much more up for staying around the track, soaking up the atmosphere and actually watching some MotoGP practicing and qualifying. Then maybe have a relaxed evening so that I'm in any shape to do some racing (yes again, that is circulating the track)...

At the moment, I know following are staying at the "Pan Pac - Glen Marie":
- Carl Notfors + Anett
- Simon Graham + Ernie
- Me + Elaine

On the side,
I understand that we might be able to get hold of some cheap pit-passes for the weekend (most likely Friday+Saturday). Will check further up on that.
