NAWS China Lake

Has anyone online here been stationed or is stationed at China Lake? Other than Willow Springs 1.5 hours South what is there?

Buttonwillow, Pahrumph NV, Fontana Tracks. Awesome riding in the mountains up there to Kernville. Come down my way to Palmdale/Lancaster and there are tons of roads. Head down to the coast and there is Muholland and you can just about go anywhere from there.

Awesome off-roading really close to the base. If you are into boating there is Lake Havasu, Lake Isabella, lots of lake fishing. Camping is close as well in Kennedy Meadows, Woodford Heights area.

Head over to http://www.fireblades.org/ and PM either roaddog or rrwantr. They are civs working on the base. Roaddog was prior Navy, as am I.

IMO, no better place on Earth. Not lots to do in the town itself but you are in the middle of it all. Sierras are RIGHT there.

I don't get over to this site that often if you need more PM me.

Dave

Excellent Reply!

Thanks MojaveR-1 I definetely owe you a beer for all the good info. Have you ridden Pahrumph, NV? It looks awesome!
How about Fontana then? It doesn't look that great to me, but I haven't ridden it ... yet.

Sorry about taking so long to get back to you. As stated, don't get over here much.

Have been to Pahrumph and ridden both tracks. Like the east track better than the west. West is a good Motard track. Have ridding Streets at Willow several times and will be going back to Button Willow here next month. Haven't run Fontana either, maybe some day. Pahrumph will be closing its doors to motorcycles next yr. There are 2 or 3 bike days scheduled and that is it. Don't know the full story there but, whatever. Just gives business to others.

Just did Miller Motorsports. Me and some people from Ridgecrest headed up there. All I can say is WOW, what a track. Drive wasn't bad either.

Join us over at fireblades.org or socalsportbikes.com You can get a lot more of your questions answered over there.
