When I was a child (I was born in 1952) my father who served in the Marines in WWII taught me the following words to the Marines theme song and I was wondering if anyone has heard this version:
"Ten thousand gobs put down their swabs just to fight one sick Marine.
Ten thousand more stood by and swore 'twas the best fight ever seen.
If the Army or the Navy ever looked on Heaven scenes, they would find the streets are guarded by United States Marines"
This may be too politically incorrect for today, but I was wondering if anyone had heard this version.
BTW a "gob" is a sailor and a "swab" is a mop.
Once you try track, you never go back.
