Looking into a TT600

I have been trying to sell my car - or trade for a bike, and an offer came up for a 2001 Triumph TT600 with 8000 miles, D&D exhaust, and a power commander. I am asking 6250 for my car, and this person will trade me their bike and $3000 cash for my car.

Does this sound like a good deal, a fair deal, or unbalanced to one side? What would you folks suggest?

This would be my first bike.

First, welcome

Not so sure on the TT since I just don't know much about it. A Japanese '01 supersport would go for about $3k. Its seems pretty reasonable, but you'll need riding gear too. Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, pants, totaling ~$1k in cost. BTW, take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course, it is WELL worth the money and time.

Before agreeing to any deal the bike needs to be checked out by someone who is very knowledgeable about bikes or better yet, a bike mechanic.

Thumbs up

The 01 TT600 had some quirks. Check out http://www.triumphrat.net for some discussion on it. I have an 06 Speed4 which is practically the same bike and haven't had one problem with it.
