The R1 and the R6 are great bikes. There is too much hype involved in 1000cc liter sportbikes, they are not as powerful as the hype has made them out to be. Pick the bike according to what you like the best.. If you ride any of them hard and without any common sense you can get killed in both of them very easily and in very much the same way.

If you like the r1, get the r1. Whats the point of getting a r6 when what you really want is a r1 or a gsxr1000.

Just do what I did. Buy the Champion R6 for fun and for show. Then go Mid bike and buy an FZ1 for comfort and power.

I mean i love yamaha and all, but the r6 is better in alot of ways and alot of reasons. First off they are way easier to control then the R1. Infact almost all bikes is better then the R1, in performance. But if i had to choose, which i did, it would be the R6. Slower, but funner and lighter and way more confortable and great on the traccs.

I strongly recommend neither if you r a newbie to sportbikes though.
Hey Swoop, is that your bike (Avatar)? If so, Yoshimura makes undertail exhausts? didn't see that on the website

The bike in the avatar is an R6 with the BOS undertail exhaust system. There is another bike you may see on here by TK99R1. His system is a BOS with custom cut Yoshimura RS-3 carbon bafflers.
