Well i have an aluminum sprocket set that is 520. I did it for the weight (saved quite a bit, never knew how damned heavy those sprockets actually are) An r1 has a lot more power than my bike so i'm not so sure a 520 would be wise, but if you go with the stronger chain, you should be alright. Sprockets will probably need to be changed more often also.
ALUMINUM drive chain sprockets for street use? Huh???????? Hope you plan to spend lots of money on new sprockets and spend a lot of time to replace them, over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.
Saving weight on a bike that already is very light for street use (trying to win that race to the next traffic light?) is illogical and impractical and completely impulsive. What happens when you lose a tooth up on some windy mountain road or out in the canyons or in some long stretch of wheat fields and telephone poles? They use steel on street bikes for a reason, a very good reason: reliability and strength.
Aluminum is for a closed circuit course where if you eat it up the corner worker can help you off the track until the truck comes to haul you back to the pit area.

My 2001 F4i is in the shop as we speak getting a 520 conversion with 15 tooth vortex steel front and 46 tooth vortex aluminum. I've heard that the aluminum sprockets wear a lot more than steel, which makes sense. Do yall think it will wear excessively? I dont ride like a maniac, but I do pull out a wheelie here and there. I was going to step up two in the back to a 48, but I was talked out of it.
