Differences in R6's

Hey everybody,
The R6 has been out since 1999, and i notice that all the r6's from 2000 upward have the same specs, it's just that the 1999 has alot less torque than the others. the 1999 has 50.2 @ 11,500 and the rest have 68 @ 11,500. I am just wondering if that's true, or a noticable difference or anything about that. I'm really interested in getting an R6, but just trying to figure out which one is best.
If there are any other major differences (besides head lamps) let me know, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks
-Glenn

I'm not exactly sure where you got the information on the R6 being the same from 2000 on up in terms of specifications. The '03 R6 was all new except for about 10% of the bike. A complete overhaul really.

I'm definitely not an expert - far from it - on the R6, but those stats seem a bit off to me. As far as your original question goes, which model year is the best R6, the '03 takes this title hands down. As I mentioned before, over 90% of the parts on the '03 are new. Not to mention it now has EFI.. and the EFI works very very well. Also, the frame (Deltabox III) is secured with only 2 welds versus the previous number of 16.

If that wasn't enough, the '03 won every 600 shootout held by sport bike publications.

Some people may say wait on the '04. The '04's only real advantage over this years model is they adjusted the EFI. Pretty minor change on a machine that runs perfect already.

Regards,

I want to see the '05. It should have the undertail pipes and maybe a few other innovations.

why didn't they do the undertail on the 2004 r6 like the did the r1? That would be sweet if they did a limited edition 2004 r6 with undertail and a sick paint job!!!

'Cause it would drive down the value of the '03.

This is pretty much what the case is.

The trend with the 'R' bikes has been an every other year there is a change.

It alsdo trades the center of attention with the R1. The R1 introduces something new one year, then R6 gets different changes the next year.
