any CLUTCH adjustment experts ? ? ?

What's up everyone...

Can anyone tell me how to set up the perfect clutch adjustment?

Lately I've noticed that my my 2003 R6 only has 4000 miles
slips out of gear too easily, (without the use of the clutch)...

i want to set the clutch lever where it will disengage
with the shortest amount of travel... yet still fully engage
when released...

i dont want to have to depress it all the way to disengage it,
i would like for it to disengage when i depress it
only 1/3 of the way in,

but want it to fully engage when i release
the lever & not allow the gears to jump out easily...

i adjusted the lever the way i want it,
but it easily comes out of gear...

I know there is another adjusment down by the clutch,
but i havent ever touched it yet, is that what i need to play with,
if so what do i do?

any experts out there the can explain how i can accomplish this?

Coming out of gear doesn't have anything to do with the clutch. You're either not getting it all of the way into gear or you have a bent shift fork.

A clutch can only slip. A proper adjustment will have about 1/4" of free play in the fully extended (hand off) position. If there's no free play, the clutch may actually be partially released and can slip. Excessive free play will not slip but may be enough to not fully disengage when pulled all of the way back. If there is free play and the clutch is still slipping, the clutch is bad.

That's a summary but stop by a shop if you're not totally clear on this. It's real easy to show you with the bike there. Good luck.

I've got a doctorate in clutch adjustment. That is what the CA at the end of my name would mean if I chose to use it but I hate to seem elitist. If I was to announce all of my titles in that fashion, it would take forever so, when the bullshit must fly, I just use 3XALPHABET. For those inquiring minds out there who must know, breathin' and eye blinkin' are among my other acquired skills.
