Suspension Q's--86 FJ1200

Friend has 86 FJ1200 and has zero clue about suspension setting.

?? Does anyone here have a website or reference of what stock settings or optimal settings on stock suspension would be?

?? Does that fork have drain holes in it or must one remove fork to put fresh oil in? His anti-dive adjuster seems to not do much and I am guessing it's due to ancient fork oil that is thinned out.

I am ok with suspension adjustments, but would be interested in knowing what was originally recommended and/or what folks found worked best.

Thanks

a good yamaha dealer should be able to provide you with stock setting.

they should also be able to tell you how much oil should be used to fill the forks (number is usually compressed, springs out).

they probably do have drains at the bottom, but i've always removed the caps myself.

anti-dive never did much in my opinion, but before you do too much work w/o a manual, a lot of them worked with the brake hydraulics, so be careful.
