Isn't there a way to give my bike smoother throttle response without spending $8-900 on full exhaust and jet? I was told that I have to get a new exhaust to have a jet work.
You were told wrong! All you need is a dyno (and a mechanic who knows how to use it), a few washers to raise the needles, and a selection of main jets. With stock exhaust, the best results will probably be from adjusting the mixture screws a little richer and maybe raising the needles. Bigger mains probably won't help much with stock exhaust.
