I`m told by my parts buddy at a local Suzuki/Yamaha shop that the rims and axles from a GSXR1000 will fit on my `98TLR with no mods.I`m not sure how much lighter the new rims are,but they`ve got to be lighter than mine.Food for thought......

My guess is the weight savings would not really be worth the $$$. I would imagine the GSXR would only save you about 2 or so pounds at the most.

Hope my last words will NOT be "Hey guys, watch this!!"

auger,

have you looked into dymags or marchesini.

they'd save a lot more weight (gsxr750y2k is right, 2 lbs is about all you'll get). details here: http://nwcycle.com/ECatalog/Marchesini/default.htm (they have a tl page as well.

i thought about selling my gsxr wheels for them.

unfortunately the 750 wheels never got got expensive enough to justify it.

the marchesini would cost me like 1750 and the most i saw the gsxr wheels go for was 550. 1200 for wheels is still a better performance value than 900 for a pipe.

Post Gixxer rims

Yes,I have looked at the Marchesini`s,Dymags,Hi-point`s,Marvic`s with the price being around $1750.00 American for a set or $2550.00 Canadian.Too rich for me.The reason I brought this thread up is that there is an option that would fit my `98TLR without paying the exorbitant amounts of an aftermarket system.I would not buy new Gixxer rims but would look for wrecked but salvageable rims(I realize that in an accident, the rims are usually the first to go). It`s an idea that I`m not seriously persueing but worth knowing.

Post Rims?

I would say yes that the `98-`99 Gixxer rims would be the same as my `98TLR.I`m pretty sure that Suzuki would not change rims on two different models of the same year, usually manufacturers try to use as much stanardization as possible to keep the prices reasonable.Tony, check out the hi-point`s,you can find them at http://www.mallardracing.com.
