Well,I got the bike back last Friday from the shop. I am glad I decided to spend the extra bucks and let them do the work.It seems the previous mechanic had set the float levels too high.Something I never would have caught.
Yoshimura Zyclone full system,K&N filter and jet-kit are now installed!!!
Good things: sounds sooooo bitchin' now! I understand why everyone is excited about their pipes etc now! The main thing in performance I notice is that the throttle response is quicker, more instant.More power!!!(insert Tim Allen grunts here!)Also had a set of new plugs installed too.Looks sweet too!Obviously carrying less weight too. Do I get the looks when I go by now!!
The warm up period is shorter too.
Bad things: not too sure yet how much I will miss the center stand. To do an oil change I have to bust the whole system loose to get at the filter now,(major bummer),no problem to get at the plug tho'.The lower right back edge of the body-work contacted the pipe so we needed to put in a spacer. Inside the front of the chin faring the pipes make a little contact but that problem is going away.
No change in the lower RPM grunt, pulls well from about 4000rpm if you want all the way to red-line.
Sounds great, runs great and looks bitchin'!! All in all I am pretty happy with the results, doesn't sound like a damn sewing machine now but a screaming angry Kat!!!
Now if it just wasn't 40 degrees I could ride it more!!

Cool

Jim, I'm glad it turned out pretty good for you on the mods
I'm sure you'll be much happier now that the bike runs alot better.I'm sorry to say that my Kat is gone, so i could get my truck back on the road.
But hopefully after the holidays a new bike will be on order.
I went to the Suzuki dealer yesterday and started drooling over the new SV650's, nice looking bikes and V-TWIN power too.

Steve

Its not the size of the bike, its hove well you use it.

Thumbs up Kat mods

Hi Kat600,

Could you post a pic of your modified bike in the pic area or email me a shot of the bike now? I've debated that mod too, but not sure - based on price I might just end up getting a zx6r at the end of next season. It depends just how cool the new tube looks

Hey Dude..I'd send ya a pix etc if I could but I don't have a scanner yet or a digital camera.I'm open to any suggestions so I could do so...what's quick cheap way??
By the way, if ya do this your self you can save about $200.00 so then the costs for parts,(pipe,jet-kit,filter) should be around,say.... $500.oo. I hope that helps.

Wink The stone ages...

Well if you don't have one at your place, does your work or buddies have one? The pipe you have now, is it 4 into 2 or 4 into 1?

Stone age is right!!
I'll check around at work,I think I know someone who might have a digital camera.
Four into one.....exits on the right side.Black headers into a polished aluminum canister.I think you can get all stainless, also a carbon fiber canister too. Just depends on how much ya have to spend!!
