GSXR 02' vs 05' 600 CC motor

My school is building a formula SAE car and need a engine to power it. It has to have a maximum displacement of 600 cc. With this in mind, I found a 02' GSXR motor for $400 and an 05' for $500. Is it worth the extra $100 for an 05'? They both have the same mileage. Thanks for any help.

From what I know of SAE races, you'll have to run a 20mm restrictor plate. With that in mind, I see no reason to go for the more expansive motor.
