RF900 front tire - life/wear question

Picked up a RF900 two or three weeks ago. At the time I noticed that the front tire was pretty well worn (nearly worn out) on the left and right sides. After doing some Googling and searching here, I find the left / right side tire wear is pretty normal. Mine happens to be a bit more worn on the left which fits with most of what I've read so far.

The seller (who was not the previous driver, but was the previous driver's father) said the front and rear tires were replaced at the same time. Said he knows that for sure because he took the bike to the shop (didn't know miles, but guesstimated maybe 2K-3K use). I'd estimate the rear tire to be around 60-70% tread and the front to be at 5-10% on the sides, probably 25% in the center. Not 100% positive, but I think they are Dunlop D208's.

OK, so now the question....

Anyone know if the RF900 is notoriously hard on front tires, or is it very common to have the front wear much faster than the rear on this type of bike?

Strange to have the front tire wear faster than the rear on any bike.

It's likely the seller was misinformed about when the tires were last replaced.

RF tires

The RF is no harder on tires than any other comparable bike. And yes, it is unusual for a front tire to wear faster than the rear.

The general rule of thumb is, and of course your milage will vary, is 2 rears for every front...Unless the previous owner was a aggro track rider who likes to push the front alot, it's likey that the info. given you was wrong.
