No replies here, but I thought I would say that I passed on the bike.
Turns out that it had a footpeg broken off and re-welded, several small breaks and misfitted plastic, a tailpiece from a 1997 TL1kS, needed a clutch soonish, had a completely dangerous rear tire from repeated burnouts, and an oil leak I was unable to diagnose, other than to see it was coming from the airbox. I even drained the oil and put in the proper amount after finding out he put over 4 quarts in it without removing the oil filter. Still leaked.
Apparently, the 3k miles came from riding the bike to wherever he was hanging out and doing burnouts over and over. The rear tire had a 2"x4" section where the metal wires were showing in the Metzler.
He asked for $2400, and probably would have went lower, but I gave it a pass all the same.
