02 F4i Steering Stem

How hard is it to replace the Steering Stem Bearings on the 02 F4i. I can feel my steering stem move a little recently when I stop. I hav 45K miles on it so I assume the bearings are going bad.

Is this something that can be done at home? Are special tools required?

How much should I expect the stupid dealer to charge if I let them do it.

Hello Friends,

The F4i spanner wrench will allow you to remove the "special" nut and allow you to remove the steering stem. As already mentioned, the re-assembly is the problem. I dumped the cash for the special socket - it fits all Hondas. I really wish local dealerships had a tool rental program. $60+ for a socket is crazy. Now you can always try to make your own socket if you're handy with a grinder.

Thanks and Regards,
Umang Kumar
