Dumping Power Commander maps??

Just a quick question, has anybody had any problems with a Power Commander dumping its map? I read somewhere they were notorious for doing this but never had any problems, until I got a hair up you know where and wanted to see if I could smooth out the throttle at lower settings. I seem to make headway until soon after adjusting the map I go to start and the bike acts like the battery is going dead then it fires right up, and then it goes back to the original version of that map, plus it resets my tripmeter.I realize my battery is just over three years old, which is amazing in the heat we have here, and is more than likely gloing bad, but has anybody had the same experence the the Power Commander or is it user error ?

Thanks,
Chris

Do you have an aftermarket pipe?

If so, might to contact the maker of the pipe, sometimes they have maps on their site. I know Two Brothers has them.

Other then that, contact power commander. My FI light would keep coming on at low RPM's, they had me check some things, runs awesome now. They are pretty good about getting back to people.

I have a set of Moriwaki slip ons and had used a map I believe I got off the Power Commander web site, either that or Dan Kyles, I don't remember.I think I'm going to try a new battery and if that dosent cure it, I'll call Dyno Jet themselves.

No the PCII nor any other Powercommander version will "lose" its
map...

The hard starting issue is well documented on the RC51's that are still using a PCII It is even documented no my site.

I have the pc3r model, for some reason it will at random times revert back to a previous map. And, for whatever reason it just started to do this.I have read somewhere that they do this from time to time. I had no problems what so ever with mine until lately.

& you know this how?

I've been doing Fi mapping & working with Dynojet for over 6 years now & have never heard of the Powercommander reverting to a previous map. I don't even see how it is possible as it only stores one map at a time in a flashable eprom

When I plug it in to my computer and hit "get map", dosen't it get the current map in your power commander? It's when I do this it will bring up a different map than what I last uploaded or,all the settings will be at zero.

Exclamation

Looks like you might have to call Power Commander.

Chris

I'm not being derogatory towards you at all nor am I dismissing the idea that there could be a problem with the Powercommander cause they do glitch every now & then, but I have seen way more "operator errors" from incorrectly using the software and/or installing the powercommander etc than I have with the Powercommanders actually going bad.

Either way I would replace the battery on your bike before seeking assistance from Dynojet on this matter.

I did call DynoJet the other day just to pick their brain and make sure it was not some sort of user error. After some pickin' and finding out that using the "get map" wasn't the best way to read whats in your Power Commander, instead use "compare" I was told, it might have been my fault in thinking that the pc3r looked like it went back to another map but it still dosent explain why on a few occasions when I would compare all the setting went to zero. But we did decide that changing the battery is a good first step. I'll find out.
