New '05 F4i vs. '99-'00F4

Here's the deal, I'm going to buy a CBR in April, don't really know which to go for. I know with the '05 (Red/black) it would be easier to get the color I want, know the entire history of the bike, being new, and I like the fuel injection, aside for the rapid depreciation, I would rather have the new F4i. With the depreciation, if I was still able to find a lower mileage '99, what's the difference (carbs, I know). It seems like I should be able to find a very clean '99 with some mods done already, can, jet-kit, K&N, fender eliminator/undertail for $4k-$5k. What are your thoughts? TIA!!!!

'87 Buick GN astroroof (11.87 @ 115mph, 5320ft elev)

No bikes right now, past:
'83 VT700 Shadow
'96 GSX600 Katana
'96 ZX-6e Ninja
'97 GSX-R 750, Red&Black, not Blue/White LIKE EVERYBODY!

One thought only bro.......I am a skeptic for buying used rockets. Its almost inevitable as to what they have been through with previous owners . There may be a few good one's around but thats a chance that Im not willing to take.

Yeah, I like the look of the split seat, but that's one reason I sold the Gixxer, My wife wouldn't ride it with me . I like riding better when she's there, so that's why I'm looking at the '99-'00 or the new '04-'05. Sounds like you found a good deal on that 02!

Two words that make all the difference in the world: Fuel Injection. I'll take an F4i over the F3 any day of the week. The majority of the engine internals are identical, but I know by experience that you can run the snot out of a 4i and not worry about it. Heck, we punched a hole in a piston with one of the valves, and it still pulled 75 Hp at WOT on out engine dyno.

As for seating,..... it's all a matter of preference. I know people that love the split seat on my 4i... personally it hurts my butt after about 20 minutes, hence the Corbin seat I bought.

As for cost, I bought my '01 F4i with an M4 exhaust back in August with 3400 miles on it for $4800. It had a fork seal that was just starting to ooze which I will be fixing as soon as the warm weather hits again. (IS it spring yet?!!?)
