I thought that the F4i was fuel injected while the F4 was carbed. I may be wrong on that though.

I think that really covers the main mechanical differences. The F4i probably has a bit more power. Other differences are mostly cosmetic I think (plastics, single seat vs. split seat, etc.).

We loved our F4....damn thieves.

The only bad thing I've ever heard about the F4i's was that the seats got really hot during long rides. Hardly a big enough downside to keep it off of my want list.

I loved my F4i,but was told I looked like an elephant making sweet love to a football. Thats why I got the 929. I only went on one semi long ride on the F4i, but didn't think the seat got too hot. I just think Hondas wrap 2x4's in leather and call it a seat.

I'm not sure where the 85 came from, but as far as F4's/F4i's go, the F4 was produced in 1999 & 2000. From 2001-present are all F4i's.

To get a price idea for each you can use kbb.com or nadaguides.com, they will give you an idea of a fair price.

I can't speak for the chassis differences, but I know that the F4i heads are significantly different. The valve timing is identical, but the heads are much more free-flowing than the F4 heads. The runners are larger, smoother, and are shaped better. The flow through them is much better than the F4 heads. If you were to have an F-4 head ported, polished, and matched by a good shop, you'd essentially end up with an f4i head.

I'm not 100% sure, but wasn't there also a difference in the gearing between the two?
