Hopefully that previous post was in reference to the 1000RR being based on the RC211V...??
Anyway, I just talked to a dealer who explained these bikes in detail (best salesman I've ever dealt with....Steve Leonard at Powersports in Seaside, CA), and he explained that while the 1000RR did gain 30 lbs, it was because of the 211 engineering making its way to the street. Something about the engine being centrally located, etc. It kind of went over my head. I was there looking at the 999, and asked about all of the liter bikes. The 1000RR felt pretty good.
