Honda F3 Basic Qusetions

Hey guys;

Just got my first Honda, a 98 F3 pure track bike. Took it for a spin and was very impressed with the power! Where my duc was hitting the rev limiter the honda seemed to switch to turbo!
anyway, im trying to find some manuals on e bay, but need to change the oil. Is the oil drain plug the one on the very bottom of the bike or the one on the side. How much oil does it take? Im putting new rubber on as well, so any tips on removing the wheels..thanks a lot in adavnce

Umm...I'm guessing roughly 2 1/2-3 quarts of oil. It's the big one on the bottom and buy some spools and a rear stand to lift the back of the bike up to change the rear tire. The front's a little trickier.

Thanks Doogie, and i never would have thought that i needed to put the bike on a stand to remove the wheels..cheers

It should take about 4 quarts of oil- check the dipstick after 3.5 quarts, as mine ('95, shallower sump) supposedly takes 3.7qts, but actually takes 4.

Front wheel: 4 pinchbolts and the right side axle bolt (2-piece axle), and remove one caliper.
Rear wheel: loosen the caliper bracket or remove the caliper, and the axle is just the one nut and the axle itself.

BTW, what did you do with the suspension/chassis for the track?

yes, it is 4 quarts (more than a corrolla), not the usually 2.5-3.

also, there's no provision for spools, i got a hindle universal for mine, with the pit bull front lift, it works good. like every universal, they aren't ideal for tire changes (they slide). but it's cheap and better than most.

not much to changing the tires. it's fairly straight forward (as stated above). the only problem i can think of is it helps if you really push the rear pads in as far as they'll go (every bike seems to like the fronts done). my f2, they always seemed to be in the way. just don't forget to pump them back up.
