When is 2nd oil change due>>>

My 954 had its 1st service, as recomended between 600-1000 miles...I dont have my owners manual w/ me currently, to ascertain when the 2nd one is due..

I think it is around the 3000 or 4000 mile mark...If ya know holla bak...Should I go w/ synthetic oil or not.....Im approaching the 2900 mile mark, so i just wanna be sure.....

Honda requires oil & filter changes at 8000-mile intervals on most late-model streetbikes. But most owners I know change oil & filter every 4000 miles or less.

My basic schedule for maintenance on my Hondas goes like this:
  • Oil change: every 4000 miles--also includes inspection of brakes, chain, and some other stuff
  • Minor service: every 8000 miles--oil change + replace spark plugs, replace air filter, sync carbs, and inspect a lot more stuff
  • Major service: every 16,000 miles--minor service + adjust valves, flush coolant, flush hydraulic fluid, replace fuel filter, and lubricate controls & switches
Coolant and hydraulic fluid flush are also time-dependent. If you don't ride a lot, they should be done every two years, regardless of miles.
