I've got a 1998 model with a little over 30,000 miles on the clock and no vibration on mine. A few questions...

#1 What type of vibration and where do you feel it?
#2 What year is the bike?
#3 How many miles ya got on the motor and has the bike ever been crashed hard?

As far as the 50mpg thing good luck! I've never been able to get more than 30mpg. But I have a heavy wrist too.

Sorry but I don't have any vibration and I can only dream of 50 mpg .Were is the vibration coming from footpegs, hand grips??? If its in the grips check you anti vibration bar end and the balance of the front tire.If its in the pegs make sure the rear tire is balanced and check the engine mount points.

vibration and fuel mpg on 98 9r

thanks for the replies. i get the vibration at 4000 rpm
and it feels as though it is from the lower end of motor.
this bike has been down twice but i suspect it may be
motor mounts - thanks to your help.
the reason i believe we can improve touring range is
that there is little available sprockets to gear up, and
the zx-10 and zx-11 can get 50 mpg. i will have to
call the sprocket mfr's to custom order tall gearing.
the thing is so easy to ride and geared low it feels
as though it can handle a bigger gear.
this one has 12000 miles.

Mine has a little vibration since I piped and jetted it, but it's still nothing major - just enough to make the mirrors vibrate now. As for mileage, the most I've got on a tank was around 220 miles indicated, but that was ran bone dry so I had to push it about a mile to a gas station. One of these days, I have to fix that petcock so the reserve position works...

'98 ZX-9R. Money pits should all be this green.
