Unhappy Tapping noise

When at idle just under 1k RPMs, their is a tapping noise coming from the motor, but if i rev it to just over 1k RPMs the noise goes away. Could this be the valves by any chance?

My zx12 does the same thing. Its more of a ticking noise though. I am curious as well. Maybe its just a Kawi thing.

I've seen threads about changing out the auto-adjusted cam chain tensioner (aka CCT) for a manual one so other than a valave clearance check that's a possibility.

+1 Yup, Cam Chain Tensioner. It is just taking up the slack from the cam chain as you rev it. Probably needs to be replaced for security sakes...I had to do this on my 95' Honda F3

Been there, crashed that, Fixed again, sold it!
