parts interchangability on 636

I just bought an 03 636 and needs street trim (was an old race bike) I basically need everything (upper, side panels, tail, tank, headlight assembly, guage and fender). My question is will all years 636 interchange?? like I have an '03 but will '04 or '05 stuff work???

The 03-04 ZX-6R and ZX-6RR had the same body work, but the 05s are different.

The rear cowl is also the same as a Z1000.

For that matter... so is the taillight. I am assuming you will be needing that as well.

The instrument panel is universal for all recent kawi's... Or at least the 636, 600rr, zx10, z1000, and maybe others...

I'm pretty sure '03-'04 636 are almost identical...

Here is a guaranteed method, but its time intensive.. Go to ronayers.com, or some other site that has part diagrams with part numbers (Bikebandit does not) Find the part number of the part you are looking for, and then check the part number on otherbikes that you suspect will interchange.. I've done that for mirrors, pegs, and rear sets... Especially to verify that a set of aftermarket pegs for the 636 will fit the 10.. If the piece you are looking for is a fairing piece, kawi uses the last three numbers preceeded by a dash (XXXX-XXXX-729 or something like that) to signify the color, so you can just ignore that difference..

Hope that helps..

The fairing stay is the same, but the headlights are different.

The 2003 and 2004 were exactly the same bike. the 04 ZX-6RR had a black frame instead of the 2003's aluminum color.

2003 ZX-6R 636 (ZX636B1)
2003 ZX-6RR 600 (ZX600K1)
2004 ZX-6R 636
2004 ZX-6R 600

those bikes all have the same bodywork. Everything is identical.
