Lack of aftermarket support for '93 600r?

Hey guys,

Last summer I purchased a 1993 Ninja 600r as my first bike. First of all, I can't say enough good things about it being a beginner bike and all. I'm not a huge guy, 5'10" @ 145lb so the bike fit me almost like a glove.

But anyways, the problem I've run into is that I can't seem to find ANY aftermarket parts for this guy (Cannot afford a newer / lighter bike) so I was wondering if you all knew of any places to find anything? I'm not looking for much.. and really not that much into performance I just want to make it look a little nicer (eliminator kit for the tail?) with two slipon cans or something.

Also, on another topic, does anybody know the easiest way to remove those pinstrips? Maybe I should just peel them off, let me know any suggestions.

Thanks!
Justin

600R

Yeah, finding aftermarket products for older sportbikes can be difficult. Back in the late eighties to early ninties, when your bike was THE hot 600, you could find all kinds of parts for it.

Although they are hard to come across, the good thing is that when you DO find something, it's usually very cheap.

Here's a website that carried some stuff for your bike:

I'd also check E-bay.

As far as removing decals- I've commonly heard that heating up the decal with a blow dryer will make it very easy to peel right off.

I had a '96 600R for 4 years. Put about 7000 trouble free miles on it. I too found out that nobdy makes shit for this bike. I was lucky that Zero Gravity made a tinted windscreen for it.

I just traded the bike in last October on a '98 ZX-6E and am finding out that nobody malkes shit for this bike wither. Found a nice polished chain guard from Lockhart and ordered it in November. Well, it's Feb 1st and the bastard is still backordered.

If it's aftermarker support you're looking for, get a ZX-6R and be done with it. Tons of stuff for that bike. I will learn to deal with the fact that there is little aftermarket support for my nre bike as well.

You'll really get frustrated when you want to get a replacement front tire for your bike. NOBODY makes a 110/80-16 for this bike. You only option is to visit your local Kawi dealer and get reamed in the ass for the replacement. Even though it's made by Dunlop, you can only get it thru Kawi. I wound up replacing it with a more reasonably-priced Pirelli Sport Demon in a 110/90-16. It just cleared the front fender and turn-in was a bit sharper, but I liked saving over $100 in the price difference.

Happy riding!
