Shift fork

I am concidering the purchase of a 91 zx6. The current owner says it has a bend 2nd gear shift fork. Is there a way to verify this without tear down? How difficult is it to change the fork (for a auto tech)?

Shift fork will cause the selected gear to "pop-out" resulting in a "false" neutral during "hard accel" or the selected gear will not fully engage.

As for servicing..........If you are an "above average" tech, the R&R will not be too difficult. Although, you may have to split cases. This may require additional gaskets and/or parts.

Hope This Helps!
