Tires For a Ninja 500

I'm looking to replace the tires on my 500 in the spring. I currently have Bridgestone Excedra 110/130 70-17. I realize that tire selection for the bike is very limited but is there a better replacement tire out there for it?

I believe the PIRELLI / METZLER tires offer rubber for the 500R. I will check for the models and sizes and let you know.

Late!

PIRELLI produces the following:

MTR01 / 02 Dragon Corsa Tire
Sport Demon Tire*

These are two of a few that may work for your ride. I looked for the METZLER site but to no avail. I know they also have tires that will fit your machine.

* Model in production preparation

Hope This Helps!

Johnny,

Thanks for the info. I'll follow up on these leads. I'll look into the Metzler option. Appreciate your help.

Brian............Anytime.

Enjoy your ride! Once you get some good, sticky rubber on the lil Ninja, you'll have a big grin ear to ear.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I bought a ninja 500 for my wife last summer. The guy I got it from thru in 2 brand new tires that he had planed to put on it. The tires are front Metzeler MeZ3 110/60/zr17 and back 150/60/zr17. I dont want to put anything but stock size tires on the bikefor her. The previos owner said these wider tires would work and it does look like there is plenty of room for the 150. The guy used the bike for the track mostly . I am not saying that this wider tire is even safe to use on stock rim but I will sell both of these tires for 75bucks for the pair . PM me if you are interested . Ilive 2 hrs from you if you want to drive halfway to get them

If you did not use them, why are you trying to sell the tires to someone else? If the width (ie 150) is too wide...........It NOW becomes a rider safety issue.

The crown........Or bowl of the tire must be within safety tolerances. If the tire has "excesive bowl" it will cause the steering to be unstable along with a higher probability of rear wheel "step-out" during cornering.

My suggestion on the tire sale. Ask robert if you can post this in the proper forum and suggestive sell this tire set to riders of machine(s) that "requires" such a tire size.

Exclamation

Do Not get me wrong..........I am not just busting peoples balls.

"RIDER SAFETY" is something that every rider should practice. From tire and racing industry standards, any tire change should be @ "OEM" tire fitment size, or at best, "only" 1 tire size larger than "OEM fitment".

Done with that.........Time to give the "OEM" fitment sizes for the NINJA 500R:

FRONT 110/70/17
REAR 130/70/17

If any rider "changes-out" the OEM rubber, with "rider & operational safety" in mind, can put the following upgraded fitment sizes on:

FRONT 120/70/17
REAR 140/70/17

FRONT 120/70/17
REAR 140/60/17

"RIDER SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT"!

As my friend Mike D would say........"RIDE HARD & RIDE SAFE"
