Posted this question under "Sport Touring" but didn't get any response...
Anybody have any thoughts / opinions on the best bags, mainly Saddle bags are for the ZX11?

The protruding rear side panels present a real problem for any kind of saddlebags. Mounting them below would look kind of funny and installing in the typical position will rub the paint off the side panels. I have used ordinary electrical tape applied to the painted panels, gas tank, whatever, and this works beautifully. You can buy this tape in 2-inch wide rolls, which makes it much easier. You must fabricate some sort of structure to mount behind the bags to keep them in place.

Kiva bags are available with everything needed but I hate the looks of them. They're huge and mounted way outside of everything, they look silly, and stick out so far I'd be concerned about passing clearances.

I bought sportbike bags for my 97 ZX6E - very similar rear end to the ZX11.

they are the "sportbike bags" from "Nelson Riggs" excellent quality, they have heat sheilds to protect from the "Dual exhaust" on the ZX6E-just like your ZX11(if you didn't swap out for a aftermarket single exhaust) they have plenty of protective padding to protect the paint, and they have plastic "forms" inside, to keep its shape. The bag are also "expandable". (zipper)

really alot of "cargo room" I got them in all black( they look nice)

I also have a magnetic tank bag from "Nelson Riggs" expandable also. with a map pocket(hold a lot)

I've seen a 6E (which has the rear wings similar to an 11) with Givi saddlebags.
May be a bit more expensive than soft luggage, but if you're doing much travelling, ya just can't beat hard luggage!
