I don't think so. I'm assuming a lot of folks buy the ZX-12 for braggin' rights, or simply wanna go fast in a straight line. Neither ever had much appeal to me: guess that's why I always tend to gravitate towards middleweights. Unless I had some 'special' need for a ZX-12, if I was going to go that route, I see no reason to really go bigger than the 9R. I'm sure the 9R is darn near as fast (if not faster), and has the added benefit of being much lighter and a better handler. There's also little difference in the seating position between the two. Like I said, I just don't get it.
Now the ZRX-1200R is a bit of a different story. Although (IMO) a good idea with poor execution (styling and poor luggage integration), it would make a dandy sport-tourer with a bit of redesigning by Kawasaki so the Givi hardbags would hug the bike a LOT closer! While they're at it, they could lose those funky front lights! 'Course, we'll see how many folks buy it for it's sport-touring abilities, in which case we'll be right back where we were for the ZX-12...
I just don't get it...

Perhaps there are those that prefer a lie rather then the harsh reality. Like many of the participants here I am knowledgeable about bikes. I so;d them for nearly 10 yrs. Hey, your $ and if you enjoy being a nerdish sucker then so be it.

Awwww shit.

In my first post I thought we were talking about the ZZR12 not the ZRX.

So to ammend:

ZX12- over weight sport bike so if you don't care about the weight it's a sport bike, if you do care about the weight it's a sport-tour

ZZR12- the new zx11- sport tour

ZRX12- BIG ass muscle standard, wouldn't call it anything as far as sport or tour. Not a sport bike even though a decent rider could keep up with about anything else on the street but DOA on the track. Not tour cause it's naked, doesn't mean you couldn't ride it as far as you want and tour on it, just don't call it a touring bike.

Eddy, **** off you stupid little prick. Any bike is a good bike if it does what you want for a price you can accept. You're obviously just barely smart enough to type because your spelling ain't bad but your words are of little value.

You ain't the only one that's cornfused! My comments related to the ZZR-1200 (Givi bags/funky styling), not the ZRX-1200. Kawasaki's 'bout to cornfuse everyone as much as BMW does with their funky bike ID. Guess there's something to hanging a name on a model, even if it is something dumb as Ninja?

Talking robert

ZX1200 over weight sports bike??? What the ZX1200 lacks in the twisties it will make up in the short runs. Simply a ass kick fast bike!!! PERIOD!!!

The ZRX1200 is strictley a nerd ass machine that does nothing that a 600 will not do better!

Dealers LAUGH with relief when a ZXR1200 leaves the show room floor.

NEVER has Kawasaki made and sold such a antiquated piece of shit!

Thumbs down edy- you are on the wrong site- sign up for the jerry springer show

Edy, pls just go away because you are ill educated and obnoxious to boot. You obviously have no clue what you are talking about as Cycle World said the zxr was a top ten and it has been favourably rated by every magazine on both sides of the atlantic. So you see, you make little sense and, by the way the bike is a huge seller. I have owned many bikes incl three busas, a ducati748, an fj1200, a suzuki gsxr1100, a zx11, an R1, a no of bmw`s, and tons of two strokes incl a kawasaki mach IV (you were in diapers when that bike was around) multiple r5s, lc350s etc etc.........so I have had tons of experience and have a decent idea what I am talking about. I currently ride a zrx12 and its one of the best and fun bikes that I have ever ridden. I have a buddy who rides an R6 and it is faster 0-150 than it and leaves it for dead in any kind of roll on. ...........`nuff said.
