This is F**KING SWEET

This is called the "Magnet" designed by a Aprilla artist

Its design has a 14,000rpm, 550cc - - V-twin. 85hp
Hybrid power
Electric wheels

"Supplementing the eight-valve, 14,000rpm 77 V-twin's 85 horespower are the electric motors inside each wheel. This offers extra power for acceleration, creating a machine with the performance of a 1000cc motorcycle due to the extra torque and the low aerodynamic profile of the Magnet."

the magnet is way cooler by light years

it reminds me of the Nike car in GT4 (PS2 game)

why can't car/cycle companies make a small productions of their concepts?, they would make a kiling - and we would be actualy living in the "20th century"

~~~~~ check out my totaled 02' ZX-6R - in the whatever gallery
Because that model is very very far from production.
I can name a few difficult point off the top of my head
1. Electric motors add to unsprung weight, negativly affecting handling
2. Electric motors are too small to be deliever sufficient power
3. Electric motos spin too slowly, since they are a direct drive
4. Battery is not large enough to hold sufficient charge. Those motors will be power hungry.
Those are problems that will have to be solved for the thing to drive, not produced. Then someone will have to figure out how to make these carbon fiber tabs in mass with a descent yield rate.
The reason why we dont see limited production runs of crazy machines is economies of scale. There is a massive investment in tooling that has to be made to make just about everything and it is split between the produced units. If your production run includes a handful of units, the cost will be astronomical.
Consider this. The tool that makes the plastic chain guard on your bike likely costs around $20k.
Lotus had a way to deal with this problem. The came up with a design that uses 4 common cast aluminum nodes, that are connected by extruded pieces of aluminum. The idea is that the nodes are the same on all the different cars (cutting the cost of the tool) and the extruded pieces are cut to length allowing you to build anything from a sports car to an suv using the same tooling. Even then, to be economical, the production run has to be around 50k units.
im with you vash....while a good idea....thats pretty much all we can expect about electric transportation right now. that 4 wheeled motorcycle is way cooler.
whenever i hear something about electric transportation i always think about that douche bag who flew the electric motorcycle into the minivan......that was priceless...
