I dont know how much I buy those theories. After all, they dont just want you to buy another bike, but they want you to buy THEIR bikes. So it would make sence to make ones that last longer.
But, an oil pickup would not be good for racing. Its added weight, and it takes away from the mass cetralization they work so hard to get. They really do work very hard to save weight. Gixxers recently went from a 1.2mm thick fairing to 0.8mm. How much weight do you think that saved? Or how about honda, that replaced the steel adjuster collar on the rear shock with an aluminum one. We are talking about fractions of ounces...
