That's our thinking as well.

We feel similarly. The sportbikes that are being put out by the manufacturers are such high performance machines right out of the box......it is crazy. They are a super platform for customization. You can seel the body work on ebay.....we've made as much as $1000 on all the plastic in good shape.....you can turn around & invest that $ back into parts/paint....whatever & make a standout streetbike that handles like a dream.......the upright riding position created by the moto-cross handlebars is like putting a longer handle on a whip! This bike is a fantastic street ride.....& it can still hold its own on the track.....
Dave, my husband, just rode the bike at Road America in a track day....
He's about 240 w/o leathers & he was smokin guys on fairinged sportbikes......many of them had him on the straight-aways due do his non-typical rider size & lack of fairings....but the corners were the great equalizer....& she came out fast & quick.
We believe streetfighters are on the rise in the USA. We will all be seeing a lot more of these bikes!

Motocyco I want to do a Ninja 250 streetfighter project. The nin will be my first bike then I will probably move up to a SV650(tons of streetfighter parks for that one). I really want a kick ass ninja not your average crotch rocket. I figure a airtech race tail, a fender emlinator, handlebar kit and a headlight swap. Presto chango Ninja 250 is a streetfighter 250. You gotta love these exhausts as well.
