tire safety question

first of all this is a great site and i am tired of just lurking around and finally have a question that i can't seem to get answered.

i have a cbr600 f3 rim that i am using for a custom application. the one problem that i have left is my tire width. currently there is a 160 michelin on there and it buldges out on the sides. i am told that a 160 is recommended for this rim but would like to know if i can go to a 150. the only reason i am doing this is because the tire is buldging out to where my chain is. i have seen pictures of some bikes that have sidewalls of tire that seem to go flush with the edge of the rim which is what i need. i have also heard that not all tires are created equal. i.e. a michelin 160 and a dunlop 160 aren't going to be the same width. back to my main question is it safe to put a 150 on a 5inch rim, or what tire manufacturer makes a narrow 160 tire any help on this is greatly appreciated.

I'm sure you could put a 150 on with no problems.
