Exhaust advice

I'm about to buy a new slip on for my bike. The problem is I cant get the one I wanted. No one has the Akrapovic system I wanted for under $500, and I dont have that kind of cash to drop into a slip on. There are three other companies that made slip ons for my bike, D&D, Vance & Hines, and Micron. I have a V&H on it right now and dont like it, its loud and spits (because its only and damaged). I'm leaning towards the D&D at the moment, simply because I've seen the dyno chart for the particular slip on. If anyone has any opinions on any of these companies please let me know.

id go with a d&d too....pretty cheap, and i love the loud sounds that come from it. i dont have one, but a buddy of mine does. i love it when he cracks it open.

that made dropping acid seem like a mild cure for boredom

'95 F3 Smokin Joe - tried to kill me, so i returned the favor and parted it out

'03 "Titanium" CBR 954 - frame sliders, reupholstered seats, cut and gutted stock exhaust, -1/+2 520 conversion, BMC race filter

I just looked through my books and didn't even see your bike listed under any of the exhaust lines.

Have you considered just re-packing the can you have?

Vance and Hines fiberglass packing: $7.95

I've thought about re-packing it but the can is dented to hell and back and scratched pretty well to. The last owner downed the bike pretty well on the right side. The can is also real heavy. I pulled it off about 3 weeks ago to try and clean it up, it weighs close to 10lbs. I know that since I dont race weight isn't a huge deal, but that is almost as much as the stock unit. Have you all heard anything on the build quality of the unit? I've read that some people get them with small imperfections but they usually get replaced without problem. Any input?

Do you like the way your D&D's sound YZF? Youve got the closest bike to mine that has or had a D&D on em. I've found a few for my bike for $190 on some online stores, I haven't ventured to Ebay yet though.

sounds good

I like the way it sounds. its not really loud as people say. You can definately tell its louder when you get on it hard.

Alright, I'm gunna try and track one down then for a good price. Hopefully it wont end up like the Akra I was looking at which remained elusive.

Thanks,
