Exclamation Chrome Dipping

Hello all. I'm wanting to have the wheels on my 02Gixx6 chromed. I live in West Virginia, and the best price I can find is about $800. Do ANY of you know where I can have this done........for a lot less? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

BTW, I can ship anywhere if the price is right.

Ok, good point. But two more questions are in order.........(1)Where can I get the wheels that are already chromed out? Keep in mind I don't want the kind that look like something you'd put on a HD. (2) How much should I expect to spend on a new set? Thanks for the info.

A lot of people polish their rims. It is possible to do it yourself and the end product is shiny, and lighter than chrome. Do a search for this subject on this web site. I seem to recall an old thread related to this.

there are quite a few different variations of rims made now, from your typical spun aluminum to carbon fiber. and price also varies quite a bit. For a low price set of good looking rims, expect to spend around 1,200 - 1,500 bucks. Thats the downfall, they're so damn expensive... but they will take a lot of weight off your bike.

If this is too much for you (you're not alone ) Tex is right. Polishing your rims has a very nice outcome. I polished my rims and they look really nice and the only thing I spent money on was for paint stripper and mothers polish. Either way your bike will look better because stock rims are just damn ugly! I think I'll try and find that old thread on polishing rims and post it in this forum. Good luck.

So far, I've found two places that are promising, but they're not in WV. The one I'm leaning toward is Chrome Pros Plating http://www.chromeprosplating.com/main.htm in Texas. A buddy of mine had his 01Gixx1000 wheels done there, and they look f%$#ing awesome. If you send your wheels in to be plated, the cost is 5 bills, and the turn around is about 3 weeks. If they have your make/model wheels in stock, just send your originals to them, and they'll send the ones already chromed right out. The turn around on this is about 1 week, but the cost is $650. So, I guess it depends on how long ya wanna wait. (?) The second place is CalChrome http://www.calchrome.com/ in California. Don't know the prices yet.....waiting on an e-mail.
If I find anything else out, I'll post it here....so keep an eye out.

I would do some research on sites, if you are thinking about using sportchrome in California, I have heard bad stuff about them on several sites.
