A 29-year-old Alabama man was killed this morning in a high-speed motorcycle crash on South Taylor Drive in Sheboygan, police said.
Christopher D. Johnson, 29, of Arab, Ala., was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash, which occurred about 8:35 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Taylor Drive, about three-tenths of a mile north of Behrens Parkway.
A witness told police that the motorcyclist was traveling more than 100 mph before the crash, which occurred near the railroad tracks.
Johnson’s motorcycle struck the inside curb, and he then started to “come off” the motorcycle and struck a railroad warning sign, according to Sgt. Tom Tuszynski. Both the motorcycle and Johnson continued into the southbound lanes, where the motorcycle crashed.
Johnson was in the Sheboygan area this week as a member of the Sports Associates racing team, which is at Road America. The crash closed Taylor Drive for a time this morning because of the police investigation.
