Need to talk a guy down in price...TIPS.! HURRY!!!!

My friend's neighor is going to call me at about 6 pm which is 2 hours from NOW at my place, and he has got a early 90's (not sure what year) CBR600 F2 that he takes care of well. Probably a gear head. He's moving and thats why he's selling it.

My dad is extremely firm on the price of these old bikes because of the amount/price of attainable parts for the bike if anything goes wrong. He says 500 bucks . AH! so That is my target price

I need some ammunition to knock the price down!

So far:

-Price of attainable/non-attainable parts
-Age

Need help fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*You're his buddy, and you'd love this one favor...
*You simply can't afford anything more
*Look up the price on KBB or NADA, and tell him it's simply not worth that much, and you can get one for cheaper at the local dealership.
*Old bikes, like old cars, break down more often, so it would cost you extra money to maintain it.
*be super nice, courteous, respectful, and kiss lots of ass.

I acually looked up the blue book on the bike before I posted this thread and It was 1900 trade in and 2800 retail for the 1993 version. That wasen't exactly ensuring that I was going to get it for $500.

LOL

Basically Im going to pull the "Im a 16 yr old with little money and parents that won't pay for insurance or chip in on the bike" rutine which every bit is true.

Sorry to piss on your parade, but parts on those CBRs are VERY attainable. And pretty much any running, roadworthy motorcycle is worth more than $500...especially a CBR.

That being said, just tell him that's your budget, and that's it.

So... since it's passed the scheduled call time, how'd the transaction go? Did you get it for (close to) $500?

No call yet, I should have schedualed the call for after 6. lol. My friend informed me that he comes home about six, and then my friend would get over there with my number. The guy told my friend he wanted MY number, which to me means this guy wants to get rid of this bike pretty quick...he also has a FZR model about the same year, but Im told that the fizzer was rebuilt 20K miles ago. Which makes it what? REALLY high miles??!?! lol.

This anticipation is killing me. and usually I like anticipation.

It's killing you because you know that there's a formidable chance that you won't get the bike. Keep us posted.
