First 500 plus mile ride

I rode from cleveland to louisville this past weekend. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. But I can say if I had a cruiser it would have been better.

That was 531 miles one way, so I guess the trip was over a 1000.
Anyone else put some long miles on?

The longest one-day ride i've done was 430 miles, probably 350 of which were mountain riding in western NC and eastern Ten. We probably would have hit 500 if my buddy didn't dump his bike, breaking a clip on and his front brake fluid resevoir. We got the clip on "fixed", but he had to ride the 150+ miles home with no front brake. Good thing he rides a 1000cc twin.

Recently went on a couple 1000+ rides up-down CA. Once with Etymonics earphones and books on mp3. Made all the difference on the long straightaways.

Can't imagine the pain on a R6 and ZX9-r though. Must have been uncomfortable. My YZF600r was acceptable but I still wouldn't call it pleasant.

No way. That 1000+ miles would have been pushing through your spine instead of being shared between your back and legs.

In God, we trust; all others must provide data.

Hi All-

I'm going to estimate my maximum distance in any given day was about 350 miles. My goal isn't necessarily to see how much I can squeeze onto the odometer...I like to stop for coffee every couple of hours to stretch and chat with my riding friends.

Well, I had to stop for gas at every 100 miles, so that helped with the breaks. It was not that bad. I'm 6'2" and I don't have to lean as much as you would think. Now my legs, that is a different story. Being in that position does tire them, but my back was cool.
