Putting a used engine in a different bike?

Was wondering if anyone knew about the legalities of this? Can I just take a engine from a different biek and throw it in one of mine, or will I get shit for the VIN's not matching up. Don't want to go to get it registered and have them tell me its an unregisterable vehicle.

engine swaps can be done. As long as the vin number on the frame is legal and you have title for the frame, your legally good.

engine swaping is a bit of work, but can be done in a few days as long as the motor mounts line up with the frame. If its a heavier engine, you may have to reinforce the mounts and some parts of the frame. (like if you put a 1000cc engine in a 600cc frame)

No problem

Been there done that. Had no problems, legal or otherwise. As has been mentioned in the previous post, the registration is based off of the frame number.

Engine swapping is pretty common, and not all that difficult.

I have a '97 750 powerplant in my '98 frame. Totally legal. No problems at all.
