Wtf? Warning: Stupid question inside

I was looking through my service manual because of a problem with the front brake sensor. Anyway, I noticed that it said the fuel tank capacity was 4.5 US gal or 3.7 Imp gal and the reserve is .8 US/0.7 Imp. If it has a capacity of 4.5 US, why does my gas tank take around 3.6-7 gallons right after I hit reserve?

Well 4.5 - .8 = 3.7?

Maybe just a coincidence?

Damn.. I didn't even think of that. They have the fuel capacity and reserve tank on different lines so I just assumed they were separate and made an ass of myself.

Don't look at it that way. You're being too hard on yourself.

Consider the fact that you've brought a bit of humour to a guy who's working on a Saturday afternoon.

Well, it's now several nights later and I'm giggling as I read it. Apparently it's a gift that keeps on giving.

Hey it's.... a mistake that...... any one of us might..... have made.
