crappy mileage

I drive in highway and city on almost every tank of gas. I usually get high in the rpms occasionaly but mostly drive conservative. I hav an 05 636 with only 1500 miles. I seem to avearage about 35 miles per gallon. The dealership told me that my milegae should increase as it breaks in. Is this true? I bought this bike hoping i would get at least over 40.

Hmmm, my '98 600r got anywhere from 25 to 55 depending on riding style and conditions. Might depend on fuel grade, you are most likely running premium, try mid range fuel.

How often do you get in the high rpms? Gunning it everywhere will give you 35. If your being conservative, you should be getting higher. My cbr600 gets 42 when gunning it and 60 when not. But I have a much older bike and your 636 is beefer.

Try this, go for a whole week without gunning it over 8k or so. Try not to get to the double digit rpms and see how your mpg is then. Also, try not to go full throttle either. I saw a high of 65 mpg once, but that was shifting nothing higher then 5k and driving like a granny.
