tank bra purpose?

What's the purpose of having a tank bra?

stops your gear from scratching it when riding? or what?

Hi Suavedg-

The purpose of a tank bra (whether magnetic, shockcord, or otherwise) is to prevent scratches from belt buckles and/or jacket hardware. They do an amazingly good job of protecting the paint underneath.

You must take the time to occasionally remove the tank bra to wash and wax to ensure there is no grit caught beneath that could become abrasive.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the leather tank bra. I think they are too much. I like the tank pad, it is smaller and more discreet looking. And it doesn't take away from the look of the bike.

Me neither. I don't like the look of a bra on anything.

I have it on one bike & like it while on the two others I have tank pads.

The other good thing about a tank bra is you can really obtain grip on your saddle with your knees well above a polished tank.
