Aftermarket Headlamps??

How many of you use higher watt or aftermarket bulbs on your bike? My stock bulbs are 55 Watts on the low beam, I think the high beam uses two 55 Watt bulbs (?)

Is this a good idea as far as safety goes, or are most aftermarket bulbs a gimmick?

Thanks.

Hi ESanders2-

Modern replacement bulbs from respected lighting companies like PIAA or Sylvania are a bit more expensive than stock, but they do seem to produce a whiter and more uniform light. I noticed a drastic improvement in light output even with the same wattage.

On the other hand, going with gimmicky 100-watt monsters likely produces too much heat that can't be beneficial for the reflector or the lens.
