Tranny issues?

Tranny issues? I think?

I was riding on Sunday night and noticed some issues with the Tranny I think....

Nothing has been changed on the bike since I rode is last and everything was fine...

Here is the problem.

I noticed when I was comming up to stops I could not shift into first. Stuck in second I could shift up fine but but when I tried to shift down the shifter had the play necessary but it didn't catch on anything... it felt very like just a slight tension enough to pull the lever back to the normal position, but it would not catch on anything. I tried repeted taping on the lever no luck, tried rocking the bike and shifting no luck, in both directions up to third down to second and tried to find first.

After driving 10 min or so and several other efferts it caught.... went into first fine. I drove it again yesterday and didn't have the problem at all.... any ideas? Any suggestions on what I need to check/service?

Bike has 23K on it now.

your PNU. positive nuetral finder, that nifty thing kawi puts on their bikes. anywho, I'm not entirely sure how it works, but it has something to do with a special type of grease that changes friction coefficients.. Like I said I dont know exactly how it works
